Carson City Public Works Director Andrew Burnham announced his retirement effective June 2. Burnham has served as Public Works Director since 2000.
To facilitate an easy transition, Burnham will step down and serve as the Deputy Public Works Director until his retirement date.
Deputy Public Works Director Darren Schulz has been selected as Carson City’s new Public Works Director effective Monday, Feb. 24. Schulz has an extensive background in the public works operations. He has over 20 years of diverse Public Works Administration, Project Management, Civil Engineering Design, and Construction Management experience.
This includes a number of years with city government in both Southern and Northern Nevada. He has also held roles of regional manager and operations manager with private design and construction management consulting firms in Nevada. Schulz has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Northern Arizona University and is a registered professional engineer in Nevada.
“I am pleased to have a person of Darren’s qualifications and education as our new Director,” said Interim Carson City Manager Marena Works.
