The Carson Bulldog Wrestling Club competed in the Rocky Mountain National’s Rumble in Reno wrestling tournament this past Saturday at the Peppermill.
Carson City’s youth wrestling club had 20 wrestlers competing in both the Rookie and Experienced categories for ages 6 to 15 years old. The club finished with ten top placers, four of which were first place honors.
Three wrestlers had an exceptional tournament and brought home trophies. Christopher Acuna pulled off a last second win in his final match to take home first place in the 6 & under 55 pound division.
Harvey Ludington IV placed first in both the 8 & under 74 pound and the 8 & under 78 pound weight classes, winning a combined five matches (three by pin).
Sheldon Miller took home a first place trophy and won the outstanding wrestler award for the 15 & under HWT division after winning all three of his matches with pins.
Other wrestlers Ean Thomas, Jackson Hayward, Miguel Acuna, Sawyer Gonzales, David Remer, and John (Dawson) Breuer all finished 6th place or higher to take home medals.
The one day tournament hosted almost 700 wrestlers from around the country. The Bulldogs are now preparing to finish out the season by competing at the Iron Man tournament in Sparks this weekend and the USA-Nevada State Tournament in Winnemucca, NV in mid-March.
