Rick Arnold, President of the Carson Area Chapter - 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America announced that the Chapter will host an event at Mills Park in Carson City beginning at 12:00 noon on Vietnam Veterans Day - March 29, 2014.

The Chapter, a Commemorative Partner in The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, is holding the event to focus attention on the 50th anniversary of the War. Open to the public, the afternoon will be kicked off with the landing of two Vietnam War era helicopters - an AH-1 “Cobra” and a HU-1 “Huey” at Mills Park. In addition to the two helicopters, the event will feature an extensive display of memorabilia and photos of the conflict plus an exhibit of military land vehicles.

At 5:00 pm, beginning with a low level ”fly-over” by the “Cobra” and the “Huey”, the Chapter will hold a public Honor Ceremony at the Nevada State Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Mills Park. The Ceremony will pay tribute to those who honorably served during the War and returned home while remembering and saluting the sacrifice of those Brothers and Sisters who also served, but didn’t return. Arnold went on to say that the Chapter invites all Vietnam Veterans to join with them in this Ceremony,

The Ceremony will be followed by a “no-host bar” reception held at the Carson Nugget from 6:00 pm to 9:00pm. The public is again invited.
