An 18-year-old Fountain Valley, Calif., man died Tuesday in a snowboarding accident at Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Mountain Resort.
Wyatt James Colvard died due to internal injuries from blunt force trauma suffered in a snowboard accident, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Tahoe Douglas Paramedics responded to Heavenly's Boulder Lodge at 11:45 a.m. Upon arrival Tahoe Douglas paramedics began advanced life support on Colvard, 18, of Fountain Valley.
Witnesses stated they found Wyatt lying in the snow unconscious and he was having a difficult time breathing. Ski patrol arrived and transported Wyatt down the hill to awaiting paramedics, where he succumbed to his injuries.
An autopsy was completed and preliminary finding showed that Wyatt died due to internal injuries from blunt force trauma.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reports that an investigation is ongoing.
