Lyon County law officers say an investigation based on a tip alleging homicide at a Dayton home has been determined to be unfounded.
After nearly two weeks of investigation, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Detective Division has concluded that the allegation of murder taking place at a residence in the 100 block of Railroad Street in Dayton hasn't generated any evidence or a victim or a crime, said Detective Lieutenant J. L. Pattison.
The sheriff's office was originally tipped off about this rumor Jan. 4 with the person alleging a murder took place before Thanksgiving. After numerous interviews, crime scene analysis, and even the use of a cadaver dog, absolutely no physical evidence or corroborating information could be established to support the allegation, said Pattison.
