An attempt to pull over a suspected drunk driver Sunday night resulted in a chase from Carson City to South Lake Tahoe that ended in an arrest.
The chase began before 6 p.m. on South Carson Street near Carson Station. A deputy attempted to pull a motorist over for driving erratically, according to dispatch via scanner.
The driver continued south on Carson Street and then westbound onto Highway 50 over Spooner Summit, into Stateline where it finally ended with an arrest at the corner of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Tallac Avenue in South Lake Tahoe. The vehicle was stopped by South Lake Tahoe police at around 6:20 p.m.
Carson City deputies following the SUV noted that it reached speeds of 55 mph in town and 70 mph up Spooner through light traffic. Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Highway Patrol also responded. Once the chase crossed into California, Carson City sheriff's patrol officers stood down and South Lake Tahoe police took over.
Details about the driver, including charges they face, are unknown at this time. The vehicle is reportedly registered to a woman with a Reno address.
