Uniform Crime Reporting preliminary data for 2013 shows that the crime rate for Carson City has dropped to its lowest level since 1994.
According to press release from the Carson City Sheriff's Office, the “Crime Index”, measuring the number of major crime events (homicide, rape, robbery, burglary, assault, etc.), showed less than 1,700 events, an 11 percent decrease from the year 2012, and a 14 percent decrease from 2011.
Categories of lesser serious crime (fraud, embezzlement, vandalism, sex offenses, etc.), showed just over 1,800 events recorded, 13 percent fewer than in 2012, and 6 percent less than in 2011.
