A woman died Friday morning in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Mineral County north of Hawthorne on U.S. Highway 95, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The woman, a passenger, was ejected and died at the accident scene, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen. The accident was reported at 8:14 a.m., approximately 23 miles north of Hawthorne.
Preliminary details of the incident indicate a brown 1966 Chevrolet pickup was traveling north on the two-lane highway when the male driver allowed his vehicle to depart its lane of travel, said Allen.
The pickup subsequently overturned and ejected the female passenger, whose name and age has not been released. The woman was pronounced dead a short time later at the accident scene. The male driver was taken by ground ambulance to Mount Grant General Hospital in Hawthorne for injuries believed to be minor to moderate, said Allen. No other vehicles were involved.
The woman's name will be released pending notification of family. Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating.
