Tickets are selling fast but there are still some left on Nevada Northern Railway's award-winning Polar Express in Ely. This magical ride, licensed by Warner Bros., follows both the book and movie; and features a vintage diesel locomotive pulling heated passenger train cars to the North Pole.
Including Friday, there are there are 13 remaining Polar Express rides through Dec. 28; except Dec. 24 and 25 when the railroad is closed. Polar Express holiday trains in Carson City have been sold out for several weeks.
Tickets are priced at $32/adult (13+), $16/child (4-12) and free for toddlers, who still need a ticket. White Pine & Eureka residents receive a local discount of $6/ticket. AAA and military/vets receive a 15% discount; and NNRy members receive discounts according to membership levels.
Nevada Northern Railway's Polar Express was voted "Best Special Event" in rural Nevada by readers of Nevada Magazine (www.nevadamagazine.com). The enchanting ride appeals to families, couples and friends; creating memories that will last a lifetime. Pajamas are encouraged for all ages but dress warm and prepare for snow. Ely is an easy 240-mile drive (less than 4 hours) from Las Vegas and Salt Lake City — a bit more from other areas, but well worth it.
