A Carson City woman was arrested Thursday after agreeing to help law officers make drug transactions but never showed to complete the tasks. Tashina Wungnema, 32, faces two felony charges of possession of a controlled substance and being in violation of a suspended sentence.
According to the arrest report, officers assigned to the Special Enforcement Team staged a drug transaction on Dec. 5 where suspect Wungnema agreed to sell a cooperating source of the Sheriff's Office $40 worth of methamphetamine or four-tenths of a gram, according to the arrest report.
The cooperating source was given previously recorded buy funds and equipped with an audio recording device. Wungnema met the cooperating source near North Edmonds on Gordon Street. She received the money and left to get the methamphetamine, according to the arrest report. She returned a short time later and gave the drugs to the cooperating source. The woman and her male driver were stopped by deputies driving away.
Wungnema was arrested for sales of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. The man was also arrested for a warrant.
During the investigation, the woman agreed to give information on known drug dealers and became a cooperating source with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team. She agreed to buy methamphetamine from subjects she identified and was released pending further investigation of the information she provided.
Wungnema initially agreed to keep in contact with SET officers as instructed per agreement. She would provide information on subjects who would sell methamphetamine to her. Due to SET schedule and case load, she was instructed to arrange times and locations for transactions. The transactions never happenened and the woman quit responding to communications with officers, the arrest report states.
During this time, Carson City Alternative Sentencing issued a warrant for the woman for being in violation of a suspended sentence. SET deputies went to both of Wungnema's residences looking for her. Each time her family stated she wasn't there and they had not seen her. The family stated they wanted her arrested so she could get help and they would notify the sheriff's office if they found her.
On Thursday, Dec. 19, SET officers learned the woman had been at several residences while deputies were at those locations looking for her. At around 7 p.m. officers learned the woman was at her mother's home in the 3200 block of East Nye.
SET deputies went to the address aand saw lights and people inside. Wungnema was seen through a window. Deputies knocked and announced their presence for approximately 30 minutes. People could be seen moving around the home and they refused to answer the door.
Carson City Alternative Sentencing officers arrived and announced they were entering the home as the woman had a search and seizure condition. Only then did the woman's mother open the door and Wungnema exited the home.
She was arrested on two felony counts, sales of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $23,500.
