A Dayton woman was arrested by Carson City authorities Saturday on suspicion of felony burglary and being in violation of a suspended sentence after trying to leave Walmart with 117 items valued at $874.

Kelsey Wilkison, 25, is being held on $23,000 bail. She was detained at a Dayton Casino by Lyon County authorities until Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies investigating the alleged theft arrived to interview and subsequently arrest her.

Loss prevention officials with Walmart at 3200 Market Street in Carson City observed the woman at around 4:30 p.m. pushing a shopping cart around the store, quickly filling it up with merchandise with what appeared to be no regard to the price of the items she was taking, according to the arrest report.

Store security followed the woman to the ladies department, where they observed her putting more items into the cart and then followed her to the front of the store where she exited through the east doors. Wilkison allegedly passed through all the exits without paying.

Security chased after the woman as she exited and identified themselves, telling the woman to step into the office. The woman then told security that she was going to get her purse so that she could pay for the items. Wilkison was advised again to step into the office. According to the arrest report, she then grabbed her purse from under the items in the shopping cart and ran to her vehicle, a Hyundai, leaving the store. Security called 911.

Security recovered the items, which included food, personal belongings, clothing and Christmas gifts.

Officers met with the woman at a Dayton Casino after she was located by Lyon County Sheriff's Office deputies. Wilkison was asked by Carson City deputies about the incident and what happened at Walmart. The woman advised she was shopping and filled up her cart and that she was going to take her full cart out to the car to get her wallet and then bring it back inside to pay, the arrest report states.

She was asked why she ran from store security and the woman replied because the store security officer made her mad. Wilkison told deputies she was going to pay using the $500 she had. The officer told the woman the items in the cart amounted to $870. The woman paused for a second and said, "I have my debit card," according to the arrest report.

Alternative Sentencing was also advised of the situation who informed arresting officers that she was in violation of a suspended sentence and that she should be charged with that as well, according to the arrest report.

In other arrests: A Dayton man was arrested and faces a felony charge of being in possession of stolen property after being stopped Friday by Carson City authorities.

Donald Lee Davis, 28, was arrested by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team following a traffic violation stop. During the stop officers observed the man having, among other things, a 39-inch LED television in a box, several DVDs and a new Kindle Fire in the backseat of his car.

Davis, who was on supervision with Alternative Sentencing for petit larceny, had search and seizure conditions on him. He was asked about the items in the car, and whether or not he was employed.

Because he wasn't employed and had several new electronic items in his vehicle and was already on probation for larceny-related charges, he consented to a vehicle search where officers also located two vehicle stereo decks, identical in both make and model, an Xbox controller, two sets of Skullcandy earbuds and an aquarium heater, still new and in the box. Officers also located several electronic theft prevention devices under the passenger seat that appeared to be taken off of merchandise.

The aggregate value of the property was $692.88. Davis was arrested and admitted to officers that he stole the earbuds, a LED TV set, DVDs and a Kindle Fire from Walmart in Douglas County. A followup investigation with the Walmart store in which video surveillance was viewed evealed the man taking the TV from the store on Dec. 5 at 11:45 a.m.

He faces the felony charge of possession of stolen property and misdemeanor charges of being arrested while on probation, failure to stop at a stop sign and a moving violation while approaching an intersection. Bail: $13,189.
