Several students from the Carson City School District will be recognized Tuesday for their submissions to the 2013-2014 American Citizen Essay Contest.
The students will be honored beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center.
Among the winners are Vidhi Pandit, a 5th grader at Bordewich Bray Elementary School. She submitted the winning elementary school essay below that was passed to Carson Now by her proud parents, Girish and Dr. Su Pandit of Carson City.
There are first, second and third place winners among the elementary, middle school and high school level: Here's the full list of winners.
Elementary School Level:
1st Place - Vidhi Pandit, 5th grade, Bordewich Bray Elementary School
2nd Place - Zephyn Sellars, 5th grade, Fremont Elementary School
3rd Place - Jacob Crossman, 5th grade, Fritsch Elementary
Middle School Level:
1st Place - Claire Benson, Bethlehem Lutheran School
2nd Place - Cole Wilczek, Bethlehem Lutheran School
3rd Place - Nicole Van Geel, Bethlehem Lutheran School
High School Level:
1st Place - Porfirio Jauregui, 12th grade, Carson High School
2nd Place - Valerie Sue Meyer, 9th grade, Carson High School
