In other matters, the sheriff's office reports making two arrests on Sunday:
A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday, 4:30 p.m. at Fourth and Curry Streets. He faces misdemeanor charges of DUI, driving on a suspended driver's license, parking more than 18 inches from a curb and contempt of court.
According to the arrest report, an officer assigned to DUI enforcement observed a gray Chrysler with three occupants turn south on Carson Street from Robinson Street. A license check was done on the vehicle which didn't get a valid match.
The officer turned around and drove south on Carson Street attempting to locate the vehicle. He saw it turn east onto Fifth Street, and then rapidly accelerating onto Fourth Street. The car stopped, partially in the street, more than 18 inches from the curb and in a parking space marked for residents only.
The male driver exited, walking to the patrol car with his hands in the air, the arrest report states. The officer parked his car and approached the driver on foot. The rear passenger opened his door and placed his hands in the air above the vehicle.
The driver told the officer he was scared and thought he was being followed because he didn't have a license. The officer asked the man if that is why he drove through a parking lot earlier. The man admitted he was trying to get away from the officer, the arrest report states.
As the officer was speaking to the man, he observed slurred speech and red, watery eyes. The man told the officer he had one and a half beers at a local casino.
Two officers arrived as backup and spoke with the two others in the vehicle. The front passenger in the car admitted to a Carson City Sheriff's Office sergeant that before they arrived he had swallowed marijuana as the arresting patrol officer was speaking with the driver.
The rear passenger stated that the Chrysler was his girlfriend's and that he was too drunk to drive so he let the 37-year-old suspect drive. Dispatch advised the driver had a suspended sentence and a confirmed warrant out of Carson City Justice Court.
The man agreed to a field sobriety test, failing two of the three tests, the arrest report states. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .133. He was taken to jail where he was read the Nevada Implied Consent and advised of his right to select an evidentiary breath test or blood test. The man elected to submit a blood test. Bail: $3,072.
