UPDATE: 7:44PM: Two neighbors living adjacent to the apartment complex that was damaged in an apartment fire Friday night suffered minor injuries. Michael Robson, 26, said he was working on his car when he saw flames and jumped through a fence to help his neighbors as the house was burning.
Robson's brother-in-law, Cody Claussen, 18, also helped and suffered an electrical burn and a glass burn on his hands and arms, Robson said. Both men drove themselves to the emergency room for treatment.
"We used five extinguishers to try to fight it and to protect my house," said Robson. He said he was acting on adrenalin when he went to fight the fire fearing that his own apartment was going to burn. He said he injured his knee in the process. Robson said Claussen was also trying to help fight the fire when he was burned.

UPDATE: An apartment unit in the 1400 block of North Edmonds near the intersection of Fairview was severely damaged in a structure fire reported at around 4:18 p.m. Friday afternoon. At least two families will be looking for a place to stay for the night as the apartment is uninhabitable, said Tom Tarulli, Carson City Assistant Fire Chief.
At the time it was reported the fire was fully involved with smoke and flames. Evacuations of the apartment were ordered and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is unknown. But went up into the first and second floors of at least two units, said Tarulli.
The Red Cross was called to help find shelter to the families displaced because of the fire. As of 5:15 p.m. traffic at the North Edmonds intersection was being re-routed due to the number of fire trucks and emergency units at the scene.
Additional firefighters from East Fork Fire Protection District and Central Lyon County Fire District were called and worked as the backup agencies for the city as it deployed it fire engines to the scene. The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes, Tarulli said. Around 15 Carson City firefighters fought the blaze.
Neighbors reported seeing smoke and flames as the fire went up in the unit. Neighbors and children quickly filled the area causing some safety concern among the sheriff's office. At one point there were 30 to 40 people, mostly children, watching the fire, which caused some concern for the safety.
