Lecture: Carson City History in Motion set for Sept. 19

Mary Fischer will present a free lecture called "Carson City's History in Motion" on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carson City Library auditorium, 900 N. Roop St. Mrs. Fisher is from GROW (Gardeners Reclaiming Our Waysides).

Her talk will discuss the various artistic vignettes presented at each of the gateways and interchanges of the Carson City Freeway/Bypass. (Please note: The location of this lecture might be changed to the BRIC (Business Resource Innovation Center), 108 East Proctor Street.) Residents and visitors of Carson City may be familiar with the large eagle sculpture at the north end of the Bypass introducing southbound travelers to the Eagle Valley. Other vignettes along the Bypass to the south, as far as Fairview Drive, relate to the history of Carson City.

Other vignettes are planned for Phase II of the Bypass project when the Bypass connects with Route 50 at the base of Spooner Summit. This presentation is free and open to the public. It is part of a planned series of "Third Thursday" lectures by the Carson City Historical Society and is presented in cooperation with the Carson City Library.
