The Lodge Assisted Living Community in Carson City will host a free seminar on long term care benefits available to veterans and surviving spouses on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. Veterans, surviving spouses, and family members who care for them are invited to attend the event.
Richard P. Schulze and Melissa Hartman, both experts in veteran’s benefits will explain the VA’s Non Service Connected Disability Pension. Attendees will learn what it is, who qualifies and how to apply.
Cher Haack, Executive Director at The Lodge, says many people are unaware of the help that is available to them through the VA.
“Long term care can be expensive, and many elders have no idea that they are eligible for benefits, so we want to change that. Plus, navigating the VA system can be daunting. This seminar will help people get the benefits they have earned.”
Seating is limited and reservations are required and can be made by calling (775) 583-8192. The Lodge is located at 2200 E. Long Street in Carson City.
