Carson City authorities arrested a 20-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man on Tuesday who were involved in a car theft from the parking lot of Burger King on Monday.
Kayla M. Robbins was jailed after surveillance video obtained showed her taking a Honda Civic on Monday at 7:53 p.m. from the restaurant at 3589 North Carson Street. The vehicle belonged to the restaurant manager.
Robbins allegedly walked past the unattended, unlocked car parked outside the main doors, got inside and sped away, according to the arrest report.
Ian Miles Lister was being held in the Carson City Jail on $25,412 bail. According to the arrest report, officers on routine patrol Tuesday were in the area of Silver Oak Drive when they saw the gray Honda Civic backing out of a space and then driving forward into it. Two men exited the car, with Lister in the driver's seat.
At that time, officers realized that the license plates were those of the car reported stolen from Burger King on Monday.
The officer drew his gun and commanded the two men to the ground. Lister followed orders while a second man fled on foot. As he fled, Lister then jumped up and ran in the opposite direction, according to the arrest report.
More deputies were called. Lister was located near a restaurant and the second man was found near the Dolphin Bay apartments. The vehicle was confirmed stolen and both men were booked into Carson City Jail, the second man facing misdemeanor charges of obstructing a police officer. His bail is $412. Robbins, who was seen taking the car, is facing a charge of grand larceny auto. Her bail was set at $25,000.

A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested July 30, 7:39 p.m. in the 2800 block of Grant Street. He faces a domestic battery charge.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the residence on a domestic battery call. A divorced couple had been arguing in front of their kids when the man took an EBT card and threw it in the face of his ex-wife, causing a small cut to her lip. The woman told authorities that she was reluctant to pursue charges because she needed the man to work in order to pay child support, the arrest report states.
She was advised that because there was domestic battery, deputies were required to investigate. The woman wrote a statement and her injury was photographed. The woman showed officers text message conversations between the two about the incident in which the woman said she was going to report the man. The man acknowledged what he had done but then told her to grow up and quit being immature.
The woman told officers she did not want her ex-husband to go to jail and instead requested a restraining order. The woman also noted that she was on parole and probation and didn't want to get into trouble. She was assured by officers that she was the victim in the case and she was not going to be in trouble.
The man was interviewed in which he admitted to throwing the card at her, hitting her in the lip causing it to bleed. He told told officers that he had contacted the woman's probation officer about language he said the woman has used toward him and how the woman possibly was violating her curfew. He asked that officers investigate.
Officers advised the man they were placing him in custody. The man said he didn't want to go to jail and felt he was being harassed. The man was allowed to make several phone calls to arrange for bail, secure the residence and arrange for someone to take care of his dogs, according to the arrest report.
The woman was contacted about her ex-husband being jailed. She was unhappy, according to the arrest report, and reiterated that she just wants a restraining order. Authorities told the woman they were obligated to make an arrest because of the battery and because of the man's confession. Bail: $3,132.
— A 30-year-old transient was placed under citizens arrest for trespassing Tuesday, July 30, 12:48 p.m. in the 2900 block of Kitchen Drive.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
