Carson CIty Fire Department responded Wednesday afternoon to the 4000 block Gordon Street for a vehicle that burst into flames next several structures. No one was injured and the fire was knocked down quickly.
The owner of the vehicle was speaking with law enforcement and fire officials at the scene. Witnesses have told authorities they believe the fire may have been intentionally set by the owner/occupant of the vehicle. This has not been confirmed.
The vehicle burned close to nearby homes and structures, which were evacuated briefly. None of the structures burned and the evacuation was done for precautionary measures, according to emergency personnel at the scene. The vehicle fire was extinguished about five minutes after firefighters arrived.
Traffic was rerouted and blocked at Gordon and Walker and Fairview and Gordon. The call came in shortly before 4 p.m. Smoke was visible from Highway 50.
A fire investigator has been called to the scene.
