After a couple weeks of average summer temperatures, Carson City and Northern Nevada will likely experience another heat wave at the end of the week. Strong high pressure will build over eastern California and western Nevada Friday and persist through the weekend, the National Weather Service reports.
This will, again, bring hot temperatures with new record highs possible. Highs across the western Nevada valleys will climb to 100 to 108, with highs of 85 to 95 in the Sierra. Friday's anticipated high for Carson City is 100, Saturday and Sunday, 102. Go here for anticipated high temperatures this weekend.
Thunderstorms are possible Saturday south of Highway 50, with storms developing as far north as Reno-Tahoe on Sunday, according to the weather service.
The stronger storms may produce outflow winds over 40 mph along with dangerous lightning. Those planning outdoor activities this weekend should be prepared to seek shelter if a thunderstorm develops near your location.
