Wicked Weeds of the West

Carson City Library will present Margie Evans, coordinator of the Carson City Weed Coalition through the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, on Wednesday, July 17, at 6 pm, at the BRIC (the Business Resource Innovation Center) 108 E. Proctor Street. The weed coalition is a group of public and private landowners who work together to reduce the number of invasive weeds in our City.

According to Ms. Evans, “weeds are obnoxious and can really frustrate us.” Noxious weeds (a designation in Nevada law) are so bad our legislators passed laws back in the 1930s that require their control, eradication, and prevention for environmental and economic reasons. Goathead (Puncturevine) is one of the most notorious on the list. This presentation will provide information about equally nasty weeds in our area.

This program is free and open to the public.

“Your Knowledge and Discovery Place”, Carson City Library, open Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., is located at the corner of Roop and Washington Streets.
