Three people are dead — a male and two females — after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday on Highway 50 east of Dayton at Six-Mile Canyon Road, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Trooper Daniel Lopez reports that around 3:30 p.m. a White Ford F150 pickup traveling eastbound, occupied by a male and a female, drifted over into the westbound lane for an unknown reason, hitting a white Toyota Camry, occupied by a female driver, head-on.
All three died at the scene of the crash. There were no other occupants inside the vehicles.
The identities of the victims and their ages have not been released pending notification of family, said Lopez.
As of 8 p.m. Wednesday evening, the westbound lane of Highway 50 is being diverted by way of the dirt shoulder. The eastbound lane of Highway 50 is open in one direction.
NHP's Major Investigation Team is at the scene of the accident. It is too early to tell if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, said Lopez.
