Carson City authorities make drug, battery arrests

A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested for domestic battery second offense on Tuesday, July 9, 4:58 p.m.

Officers responded to the residence after dispatch received a call of a domestic battery. Upon arrival, officers learned the man and his girlfriend were in the process of moving their stuff from a storage facility after they had been evicted, according to the arrest report.

Officers spoke with the victim who told them the man became angry with her, throwing a pitcher of tea on her back and the back of her head. Officers made contact with the man, who denied he intentionally threw the tea at his girlfriend, the arrest report states.

The floor of the residence was wet and the woman's appeared to have damp clothing. A wants and warrants check on the man determined that he had a prior domestic violence conviction in February 2013. He was booked on misdemeanor domestic violence battery second offense. Bail: $5,000.

— A 28-year-old Virginia man was arrested Monday in the 4000 block of South Carson Street and faces a felony charge of being in possession of a stolen vehicle. Officers responded to a grocery store parking lot where a man, identified as Michael Leonard of Salem, Virginia, had rolled backwards in the parking stall onto the shopping center's landscaping.

Leonard was uninjured and declined medical treatment. A check on the vehicle he was driving, a Toyota Camry with Pennsylvania plates, had been reported stolen out of Red Bluff, Calif. The man told police he borrowed the vehicle from a friend to go visit his mother in Las Vegas. He stated he did not know why the vehicle had been reported stolen, according to the arrest report.

Leonard was taken to jail. While in the detention center, deputies advised they had found drug paraphernalia in the car, a marijuana pipe. Bail: $26,132.

— A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, July 9, 11:40 p.m. in the 2700 block of East William Street.

Matthew Gene Dunn was faces a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities were alerted that the man was using drugs and went to the place where he was staying. He was asked by officers if they could search the room.

Dunn consented, and told officers he didn't have any drugs. A K9 was used in the search, which located a duffel bag and a drug kit containing meth, a metal spoon with meth on it, q-tips, 2 hypodermic needles and a metal scraping tool. Bail: $3,637.

— A 47-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Tuesday, 7:52 p.m. at a home on S. Curry Street. She faces a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs.

Officers went to residence after someone called dispatchers about an odor of marijuana coming from inside the home. Officers responded and smelled an overwhelming odor of marijuana wafting from the residence.

The woman told police she has a medical marijuana card for a seizure disorder and does smoke marijuana in her home. She lives in the home with her 9-year-old. Dispatch did a wants and warrants background check which showed the woman had a warrant for her arrest, driving under the influence of drugs, issued May 23, 2012 out of Carson City Justice Court.

The father of the boy was called and the woman was taken to jail. Bail: $1,000.

— A 21-year-old Carson City woman posting bail at the Carson City Jail was re-arrested Monday, July 8, 7:05 p.m. on a contempt of court warrant out of Reno Municipal Court. Bail: $500.

— A 44-year-old female transient was arrested Monday, July 8, 8:45 a.m. on a warrant, violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,000.

— A Carson City man was arrested Monday, July 8, 12:45 p.m. and faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and being a drunken pedestrian.

The intoxicated man was in the park yelling obscenities around children and families. He was asked by an officer to quit cussing and yelling, in which the man told the officer "f*** that." He became agitated and his screaming and cussing grew louder, the arrest report states. Bail: $509.

Those arrested and facing charges are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
