Carson City area students and members of the Western Nevada Performing Arts Center competition dance team participated in Master Dance Classes competing for cash awards and national recognition at the 2013 Encore Performing Arts National Championships in Las Vegas, June 17-21.
Individual awards were received by each performer and/or group that performed. In addition, overall awards and/or National ShowCase awards were received by:
Ryan Vettel (3rd overall in his division as well as Ryan's Solo Tap routine received honors at the National Showcase for top scoring of all Solo, Duo and Trio's);
Hannah Goddard (9th and 13th overall in her division); and Haley Davis (10th overall in her division).
Past student and choreographer, Alex Kaskie, received the Top Choreography Award at the National Showcase for his Advanced Hip Hop Routine, "Initiate Phase I", which also recieved a 1st overall in the teen groups 13-15 category.
