Carson City Symphony is coming to Reno to perform for Artown! The concert is on Sunday, July 7, at 5:00 p.m., at Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 Island Avenue. The program, "Movies & More," features organ soloist Michael Langham, bassoon soloist Eric Fassbender, and vocal soloist Jakki Ford. Admission is $10 at the door, or online at CCSymphony.com.

The Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will play familiar and less known themes from "Grease!,""Chicago," and other movies. They will be joined by bassoonist Eric Fassbender for a Theme and Variations by Nino Rota, an Italian composer who wrote music for the movies. Fassbender, double reed instructor at the University of Nevada, Reno, also performs with orchestras and popular performers, such as Johnny Mathis and Michael Crawford.

Jakki Ford will sing "Lady is a Tramp,""Don't Get Around Much Anymore," and excerpts from "Evita" and "Porgy and Bess" with the Symphony. Ford is a versatile vocalist, dancer, and actor who has appeared in several movies.

In a departure from the movie theme, Trinity Music Director and Principal Organist Michael Langham will play Handel's Organ Concerto No. 6 on Trinity's magnificent Casavant Freres Pipe Organ that has 2,177 pipes. Langham is an accomplished musician on organ, piano, and harp, who also directs the Carson Chamber Singers. They will perform with Trinity's St. Cecelia Choir for an Artown choral concert, Night of a Thousand Voices, on July 25.

The "Movies and More" concert is supported in part with public funding through grants from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. For information, call the Carson City Symphony at 775-883-4154 or see www.CCSymphony.com.
