To celebrate expanded operations approved by the Nevada Legislature for the state's museums, admission to the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City will be free on Saturday, July 6.
Other special pricing will be in effect during the four-day Independence Day weekend as history comes to life at the museum in Carson City, Thursday through Sunday, July 4-7.
Visitors can ride a train pulled by Virginia & Truckee steam locomotive No. 25 and photograph locomotives and significant cars on special outdoor display. Train rides are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Outdoor exhibits are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum’s interpretive center and store will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for visitors to enjoy before or after their train trips.
Ticket prices range from $4 to $15. Daily, all-inclusive museum admission and unlimited-ride tickets for adults are $15. On Saturday museum admission is free to everyone and train rides that day are $8 for ages 12 or older and $4 for those aged 4 to 11, or members. Train rides are always free for children age 3 and younger. Everyone younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
