CARSON CITY — The Nevada Rural Counties Retired Senior Volunteer Program Board of Directors has appointed Susan Haas as Interim Executive Director and CEO. Haas began work with the organization in 2007 as Program Director then was promoted in 2012 to Director of Development.

“I am humbled and proud to continue the exemplary work of Janice Ayres and RSVP.” said Ms. Haas. ”My plan is to continue to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities and life saving services to elderly persons and the disabled which helps keep them independent and in their own homes with dignity. Janice was a superb leader and a staunch advocate for those in need. It was a privilege to have spent the past six years of my life working with her. It is now my honor to further develop and sustain the programs she started. RSVP programs are an excellent resource for people struggling to remain independent.”

Rural RSVP offers a comprehensive support system that provides services such as Home Companions, Respite Care Volunteers who give breaks and relief to families caring for a loved one at home, escorted Transportation services, Pro Bono Legal Services, Lifeline Personal Emergency Response Systems, Resistance Training Exercise programs, Farmer’s Market Coupons and assistance to Federal, State, and local governments as well as other non-profit service organizations.

All of RSVP’s programs are free of charge with the exception of the monthly monitoring fee for Lifeline. This is possible because of the support RSVP receives from local communities and partner agencies. RSVP also receives funding from many generous benefactors and individuals who contribute to sustain our programs. RSVP has more than 1,400 volunteers who donate their time and talents to assist seniors in Carson City and in rural Nevada.
